Featured Song: The Fratellis’ “Flathead”

Maybe it’s cheap that I’m using a song from an iPod commercial for material on my blog, or maybe “Flathead” is just a good song.

“Flathead” starts with a swing-dance-worthy, and oddly provocative, rhythm, moving into the rock component of the verse. Great basslines and odd lyrics “ba da bap ba da da da da…” make this eccentric song quite difficult to write about. You’ll just have to download the song (or watch the commercial) to find out for yourself.

The Fratellis’ “Flathead” is available on their 2007 release, Costello Music, out now on Interscope, and on Amazon.com ($10)

“Flathead” is also available on an EP on the iTunes Music Store ($1; $4)
